Melanie is a classically trained pianist whose college career spanned three years at Virginia Wesleyan College culminating with her senior year at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa. Following this, she entered Rhema Bible Training College in Broken Arrow and graduated in 1984. During Melanie’s time at Rhema, she began a career in private piano instruction in Tulsa before moving back to her home state of Virginia where she taught for 16 years. In 2003, Melanie’s family transferred to the Dallas-Ft. Worth area of Texas where she continued teaching 13 more years until her move back to Tulsa at the end of 2016.
Melanie’s piano career has spanned just over 30 years during which she has entered many superior-rated students in the National Piano Guild Auditions and held multiple group recitals. Her most recent accomplishment is the design and composition of a series of books aimed at early to late elementary level piano students. Upon completion, she hopes to have these books commercially published.
Now that Melanie has returned to Tulsa, she is ready to share her many years of experience with her new students. Melanie strives to make piano lessons both educational and fun, and she enjoys teaching students from beginning to advanced levels. Greatest of all, however, is Melanie’s desire to help students of all ages and experience levels to simply love playing the piano. She hopes that her strength in teaching technique as well as note reading, counting and dynamics not only add to each student’s ability to perform but also creates in them an enjoyment of music which will last a life-time!
