Before the War, a Band Room

Jimmie Saied began as a band director in Guthrie, OK believing music could change lives.

His passion for music education shaped young minds long before his life took a turn toward service.

What began in a classroom would soon become something much larger.

From Baton to Battlefield

When World War II began, Jimmie Saied put down his baton and answered the call to serve.

Like so many of his generation, he traded a classroom for a uniform—risking everything not for applause, but for duty. His love of music never left him, even on the front lines.

And when the war ended, he brought that love back home to Tulsa, ready to build something new.

The Selfless Return

When the war ended, Jimmie Saied came home to find his old job waiting for him—but someone else was in it; a fellow musician who had filled in during his service, with a young family to support.

Jimmie didn’t push him out. Instead, he stepped aside… and started something entirely new. That one decision—rooted in compassion—became the first note of Saied Music Company.

A Trumpet, a Drum, and a Mission

Saied Music began with two instruments and one man’s belief that music could change lives.

Jimmie Saied opened his doors for a purpose—to equip students, support educators, and make music accessible to all.

That mission still drives everything we do today.

The Store of the Future

In 1964, Saied Music opened its flagship Midtown Tulsa location—a space that redefined what a music store could be.

With expansive showrooms, specialized instrument departments, and a dedicated service center, it was about more than selling instruments: it was about creating a place where musicians could feel at home.

Locals called it “The Store of the Future,” but for Jimmie Saied, it was simply the next step in his lifelong mission: to put music into more hands and more hearts.

The March That Meant Everything

To Jimmie Saied, The Stars and Stripes Forever was not only one of the nation's most popular marches, it was a declaration.

It was a reminder of what it means to serve, to sacrifice, and to stand tall in the face of adversity.

He believed so deeply in the power of that march that he led the drive, petitioning Congress to make it the official National March of the United States.

And he WON.

His campaign was driven by conviction—a belief that music should be honored as part of our national identity.

Today, that same march still echoes at parades, football fields, and concert halls across the country… and Jimmie’s legacy marches with it.

A Legacy That Still Leads

From a single storefront with a trumpet and a drum set to multiple locations across Oklahoma, Texas, and Arkansas, Saied Music Company continues to serve musicians at every level. In addition to thriving retail—we remain deeply rooted in advocacy, leadership, and music education.

We actively serve on the boards of National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) and National Association of School Music Dealers (NASMD), continuing a three-generation tradition of national leadership. Locally, we are proud to have been part of the founding story of the Oklahoma Bandmasters Association, when our own Bandland Fiesta summer clinic helped spark what would become one of the most important organizations for Oklahoma’s music educators..

We continue to be involved with OMEA, OBA, and community events that strengthen the bond between schools, directors, and families. What began as one man’s vision continues to shape the sound of generations.

Built to Last, Preparing for Tomorrow

With strong leadership still at the helm, Saied Music is investing in the future—mentoring the next generation and passing on a mission rooted in service, education, and integrity. This legacy wasn’t just built to endure—it was built to grow.
