Who: YOU! Open to all trombone, trumpet and clarinet players from beginning to Senior Citizens.
What: A Music “Club” where you meet with fellow musicians for fun and fellowship while learning!
Where: Saied Music South (71st and Mingo)
When: Six weekly sessions May 31st – July 19th Thursdays 6 pm – 7 pm
Why: The goal for the club is to provide a positive experience for attendees while they are learning more about their instrument. It is open for all instrumentalists from beginning players to senior citizens. Our desire is that school-age students will continue learning and playing their instrument through the summer months, individuals that would like to learn a secondary instrument can have that opportunity, and adults who may have played an instrument in the past might pull their instrument out of the closet and re-kindle the joy that is achieved through participation in music.
Cost: $ 75.00 includes 6 1-hour sessions (attendance at all meetings is not required)
Christy Andrews, principal clarinet of the Tulsa Signature Symphony and ORU clarinet instructor will be facilitating the clarinet class.
Jeremy Parker, head band director for Bixby Public Schools, founding member of Tulsa Spotlight Brass, and member of the Tulsa Starlight Band & Big Band will be facilitating the trombone class.
Dr. Stephen Goforth, principal trumpet of the Tulsa Signature Symphony and Starlight Band, also former member of the Dallas Brass and former principal trumpet player for the Oklahoma City Philharmonic will be facilitating the trumpet class.
Details: The participant makeup of each class will be used as a means to determine the curriculum and direction for that particular class. The sessions will include master classes on accepted practice for playing with good tone and proper technique, the history and evolution of the instrument, ensemble playing (as instrumentation permits), instrument care and maintenance, and other important topics related to the particular instrument.
