1972 Baldwin 6’3″ Model L in Satin Ebony

Location: Midtown
Year Manufactured: 1972
Piano Type: Grand
Color/Finish: Ebony
Model: Model L
Size: 6'3"
Special Features: In their prime, Baldwin pianos were considered by many to be one of the best American pianos one could buy, the only true American rival to the New York Steinway.

This USA-manufactured handmade 6'3" model L Artist Series Grand is the perfect example of why that was so. Built in 1972 when Baldwin was at its best; all parts are original and in excellent condition, as if the piano was seldom used.

Baldwin Artist Series grand pianos were the preferred choice of world renowned artists such as Stravinsky, Bartok, Steven Sondheim, Leonard Bernstein, The Boston Symphony, Ray Charles, Dave Brubeck, Paul Shaffer & The David Letterman Show, Bruce Hornsby, and Pavarotti.

Many professional pianists and piano teachers call us asking if we have used Baldwin handmade Artist Series grand pianos for sale and we usually have to disappoint them; as they are no longer readily available! No longer handmade in America, Baldwin pianos are now made in China.

Like Steinway, the rim is made in one piece and uses only hard maple.

The piano's action is all original, also made of hard maple. It has been found to be in excellent condition and has been fully regulated/adjusted by local PTG & Steinway-certified piano technician Cynthia Jenkins, to ensure it plays to concert level as if brand new.

The hammers have been newly voiced by Cynthia Jenkins; to bring out a full, warm bass section and a singing treble.

The original quarter-sawn, solid Sitka Spruce soundboard is in excellent condition with no cracks or loose ribs.

The original hard maple 41-ply pinblock holds the nickel-plated tuning pins tightly for an exceptionally stable tuning.

This piano features Baldwin's exclusive signature "Accu-Just" hitch pin system which allows for precise adjustment of the string bearing, not found on any other brand of piano.

Built in the classic American style; the cabinet has square arms, a wide rectangular music desk, minimalist trim, and tapered legs. A dual-position lid prop allows for optimal lid placement.

The cabinet was just refinished and is in new condition. The hand-rubbed ebony finish contrasts beautifully with the brilliant brass hardware.

This instrument is one of the finest pre-owned pianos we have for sale today!
